5 things to remember if you want to create a photo/video blog
So you want to start your own photo or video blog? Press your brain's Play button and read what Google country consultant Aileen Apolo had to say about making waves in the online world:
You don't have to be a professional photographer/videographer to start a photo/video blog. Take a look around the interwebs. Many successful Pinoy bloggers/vloggers that you see aren't really pros in photography/videography, so don't let being an amateur stop you from creating your own masterpiece.
You don't need to use expensive tools to create a photo/video blog. It's not about your toys – you can only do so much with them. It's really about you. How well you take pictures or vids and how creative you are would bring home the bacon for you. Keep in mind that some even take pictures using their camera phones. And Aileen is a believer in using free tools and platforms.
Be original. Plagiarism was, is, and will always be bad. That's what our teachers taught us in school, and the lesson still applies to this day. You'd be surprised, however, that even the mainstream media forget that rule once in a while. A case in point: Enrico "Byahilo" Dee versus the "big S."
Have a story to tell. Let your images or videos speak and tell the story for you. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words (so is a moving image), so take advantage of its power. It's best to be ready, so know what shots you'd like to take already. Prepare a script if you must.
Start creating a blog now – and evolve. Don't put it off for another day, or you might end up not creating one at all. It makes sense, doesn't it? Now excuse us as we start our own blog.
