techie_treat.jpg

The trick or treat season is here, and we at Techie joins everyone in celebrating this once-a-year experience. No, we're not going to give away tons of candies and sweets to kids. Rather, we'll list down small gadgets and accessories that are perfect giveaway treats.

Like candies, these are small and cheap. From small flash drives to iPod armbands, here are 10 gadgets and accessories that will surely satisfy anyone's techie sweet tooth.

1. Music player sock. Dress and protect your device while you enjoy your favorite music.

2. Cellphone monocle. A cool accessory for your cellphone. The monocle is like a magnifying glass, so this one's perfect for mobiles with small LCD displays. This costs less than P500 in Greenhills.

3. Music player. Perfect for listening to music on the go. If you'd like an Apple, a shuffle sells for P3,290 (2GB)/P4,390 (4GB).

4. Multi-card reader. A port hub that reads multiple memory cards? It's a real godsend. And it cost less than P1,000. How cool is that?

5. iPod armband. A cool accessory for iPod lovers. Just attach the armband to your iPod, and you can now flaunt your music player while listening to music.

6. Mini flash drive. Storage devices have become cheaper and smaller over the years. Some are even as small as a piece of candy.

7. Digital camera bag. Every digital camera's best protection from the elements.

8. Optical mouse. Every desktop needs one, and laptops are easier to operate if they have one. Need we say more?

9. Cellphone casing. We all know that we cannot live without our mobile phones. Well, almost. Why not extend your phone's life by having one of these?

10. Bluetooth headset. Now this is something that looks as though it came out of a sci-fi film. Talk wirelessly on the go. Some are a bit pricey (more than P10,000) but there are very cheap variants (less than P1,000) on the market.

These gadgets and accessories are certainly a change from the usual candy and chocolate bars handed out by the bunch during Halloween. Sweets may be delicious, but these, at least, last longer than it takes for an M&M to melt in your mouth.
