A July release for the Samsung Omnia Pro?

If you think the Samsung Omnia Pro deserves some QWERTY lovin', then cross your fingers that rumors of a July release turn out to be true.

According to the grapevine, Samsung is set to launch the Omnia Pro three months from now with a price tag of $662 (about P32,355), and the device will feature a sliding landscape keyboard, a five-megapixel camera, and a huge 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED touch display. It will also incorporate Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz user interface.

No signs of Android or Symbian for the Omnia Pro, as it will run Windows Mobile 6.1 -- upgradeable to 6.5 -- which brings light to why the smartphone's name was changed to i8910 HD.

Provided the Samsung Omnia Pro isn't just a figment of the imagination, expect a royal rumble between the smartphone heavyweights: Samsung's Omnia, Apple's iPhone, Palm's Pre, and Nokia's N97.
