Google Chrome OS netbooks could start shipping as early as June

Digitimes reports that big PC vendors Acer, Asustek Computer, Sony and Samsung Electronics are all set to ship Google Chrome OS netbooks by the second half of 2011. Although no particular date has been given, a June shipping schedule is not that far off--if they are in fact "all set".

The report said that while Acer and Samsung tried to release their own Chrome netbooks during this half, mass shipping will definitely push through in the coming months. As for other big players such as HP and Dell, well, they're still reevaluating their position, but we've no doubt they're join the band wagon soon enough.

If all goes according to plan, we'll be seeing brand new, top-of-the-line netbooks with Nvidia Tegra 2 innards sporting price tags of just US$300 (about P13,500) -- or lower. Hmmm, we thinks the tablet has a lot to be afraid of...
