Remember when you raved about how quick it was to fill your 512MB USB 2.0 flash drive with MP3s and, er, Word documents? Well, be prepared to feel as though it's 2004 again with PQI's USB 3.0-enabled Cool Drive U366.
It's a standard-looking thumb drive except that it's designed to deal with major memory hogs such as HD vids and other downloaded goodies.
USB 3.0's maximum bandwidth tops out at a staggering 5Gbps (that's gigabits per second) in theory. PQI, however, was honest enough to say that the U366 can only handle 97MB/s in real-world conditions – still very impressive.
The inevitable future to such a technology is that file sizes will always catch up to transfer speeds. It happened to USB 2.0, and it will happen to USB 3.0. Ah, the circle of life.
There are no pricing or availability details yet, but don't be surprised to spot one in stores locally by Q2 this year.
