Android 3.0 'Gingerbread' specs revealed?

Many Filipinos have yet to taste the sweet Android Froyo, but we're already smelling hearing delicious rumors about the next upgrade to the Android platform – Android 3.0 or Gingerbread. From the looks of it, this is one high-end delicacy that's reserved only for mobile phones with mouth-watering specs.
Russian tech reviewer Eldar Murtazin spilled the supposed-to-be-real beans in his podcast Digestiv. His ramblings about Gingerbread are only in audio, and worse, in Russian. Good thing some multilingual eavesdroppers managed to decode what Murtazin was saying and gave us the following details of the Android Gingerbread:
Minimum tech requirements
If the Russian is to be believed, Gingerbread will only run in handsets with at least 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM and with a 3.5-inch display or higher.
New UI
Apparently, Gingerbread will also be packing a new kind of user interface (UI) from Google, which means bad news for UIs developed by third-parties like Samsung (TouchWiz), Motorola (MotoBlur), and HTC (Sense).
Support for tablets?
The podcast also suggested that Gingerbread will support a resolution of 1280 × 760 for mobile devices with 4-inch displays or larger. This makes us wonder, are Android tablets going mainstream soon?
Eldar claims that Android Gingerbread is set to roll out of the oven by mid-October and should ship out with devices in time for the holidays.
