Well, how about that? We just got official word on the SRP of the ASUS Transformer Prime and, guess what? This hotly-anticipated tablet can now be yours for P32,995.
We know, that's a tad more expensive compared to its predecessor's initial SRP but that's also something we've expected. Two weeks ago, we met with ASUS reps which told us that the Transformer Prime will be priced a bit higher than the original Transformer (with keyboard dock). Seeing that the latter went for P29,995 (16GB) for the full set (with P7,000 keyboard), a P3,000 difference actually sounds right on target based on our predictions. We have to remind you though that you won't be able to buy the Transformer Prime without the dock since it's a package deal. Still, we're thinking if the opposite is true, then the tablet-only price should be around P25,000
We've been patiently waiting for the Transformer Prime's arrival on local shores and we're glad it's finally here (although from a still-limited number of retailers). For under 33K, you'll get a quad-core Tegra 3 device that boasts impressive innards (click here to learn more) and a good-lookin' facade. Also, only the 32GB variant will be available (the 64GB specimen will not officially land here and, no, there's no 16GB model).
We're still not sure if the units that will arrive here already have Ice Cream Sandwich in tow. We're told that the newest ones out of the factories will have the latest version of Android out of the box so those who'll wait a bit more could have a better chance of getting it. Still, if you find yourself stuck with Honeycomb on your Transformer Prime, don't fret, an OTA (over-the-air) upgrade is coming your way.
