George Lucas thinks it's time to make 'Star Wars' 3D movie

The man behind the Galaxy far, far away has spoken. George Lucas thinks that a new Star Wars movie can be rehashed made in 3D. Not surprising because James "I'm the King of the World" Cameron's Avatar has not only proven that 3D technology is maturing already, but that 3D movies can deliver the big bucks, too.

In an interview by Access Hollywood, Lucas said that although he isn't a big fan of 3D, he's happy that Avatar has made significant improvements in that field. He then revealed that they've been struggling with making a 3D version of Star Wars for years. "We've been looking for years and years and years of trying to take Star Wars and put it in 3D. But [the] technology hasn't been there. We've been struggling with it, but I think this will be a new impetus to make that happen," the filmmaker said.

So will we be seeing Stormtroopers and Darth Vader in 3D anytime soon? Who cares? As long as we see Princess Leia in all her 3D glory, we'll be fine.
