It’s no secret, we here at Techie are obsessed about size and speed. That’s why Hitachi has us all hot and bothered with its new 3.5-inch Deskstar 7K2000, the world’s fastest 2TB drive. With speeds of 7200rpm, it knocks the old world’s fastest 5400rpm Western Digital 2TB hard drive into second place. And for those counting, the Deskstar 7K2000 also has a 32MB cache and a 3Gbps SATA interface. Office desk jockeys may not notice the speed bump, but if you’re a “hardcore gamer,” you’ll appreciate it.

There are no pricing details as of yet, but we do know that when bigger and faster drives come along, the current models become cheaper. Perhaps it’s time to buy a 1TB drive then if you don't have one already?
