According to a report by CNET, Michael Pachter, an analyst from financial firm Wedbush, speculates that the month-old Microsoft Kinect is right on target to take down the older (but apparently, not wiser) PlayStation Move. In his research note, Pachter writes, "The higher-priced Kinect controller appears to have overtaken the Move controller in the sales races, with sales about even notwithstanding Move's 6-week head start in the marketplace."
Recently, Sony disclosed that they have sold 4.1 million units of the PlayStation Move through November. Not bad. Unfortunately, that figure only reflects the units sold to retailers and not end-users/customers/gamers. Should Microsoft indeed hit the 5-million mark before the year ends, then we have a clear winner.
But while Microsoft and Sony are duking it out with their new controlling capabilities, Nintendo and the Wii are laughing their way to the bank. As of October 2010, Ninty has purportedly sold over 65.3 million Wiimotes in the US alone. Yowza.
Wait, let us repeat that line we said earlier: NOW we have a clear winner.
