LEAKED: Acer Aspire Ultrabook is a MacBook Air clone?

News just broke out that the Acer Aspire 3951 Ultrabook is built to have identical hardware specifications as Apple's recently released MacBook Air. This leaked bit of info, which got out via a Vietnamese blog called Sohoa, also tips that the MBA clone is set to be introduced this October.

If the word is true, the MacBook Air will have to face a new anorexic nemesis, and this one will make use of a lot of the same goodies. It'll be toying with essentially similar strengths as well being ultra-thin and ultra lightweight. It will also have identical keyboards and, of course, a sleek aluminum casing. To give you a better idea, Here's a Tale of the Tape look at the two bad boys:

13 -inch MacBook air     Acer Ultrabook
  • Weight                               1.35kg                       1.42kg
  • Thickness                           17mm                        13mm
  • Screen size                       13.3-inch                    13-inch
  • Processor                     Intel 2nd-gen       Intel Core 2nd-gen chip
                                            Core i5/i7
  • Battery life                       6.9 hours                    6 hours
  • Bluetooth                            v4.0                            v4.0
  • Material                           Aluminum                   Aluminum
  • Keyboard                     Full size, back-lit          Full size, back-lit
  • Capacity                         64 - 256GB                 160GB SSD

Notice that the Ultrabook is even a hairline thinner than Apple's pet. Also, it features a fast boot up, flaunting that it can awaken from sleep mode at a speed of just 1.7 seconds. Nice!

Now the price. It's rumored to range between $770 and $960 (about P32,700 to P41,000) which is impressively way cheaper than both the 11 and 13-inch MacBook Air. As for real-word performance, we'll know in two months, if ever. Better stay tuned.
