And it's not just the Toshiba Thrive AT100 that will make a appearance soon here in the Philippines as the Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet K1 (that's a mouthful) is also set to arrive and take a dip in the local tablet wars. In fact, the latter could be arriving earlier as we just got official word that it is launching this week, September 16, Friday to be exact.
Unlike its similarly Android Honeycomb -powered rivals, the IdeaPad Tablet K1 hasn't received that much attention. So, for those who are curious at just what this baby will offer, here's a bit of a preview. The device will (unsurprisingly) sport a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, 1GB RAM, an HD 10.1-inch touchscreen and dual cameras. As for storage, the IdeaPad Tablet K1 will come in three flavors namely 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities. Wireless connectivity (via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) are all accounted for. And oh, it also has 3G for good measure. Lenovo promises up to 10 hours battery life with this one though we're curious how that claim will hold up in real-world use.
Given its hardware, you could say the IdeaPad Tablet K1 is right in the mix as far as the tablet market goes. Unfortunately, we still don't know how much it will go for locally. Will its SRP be its differentiating factor seeing that it's very similar to its rivals? We'll most probably see before the week ends.
