Lenovo Phils. hints at ThinkPad Edge local release

Earlier today, Lenovo Phils. shot us a teaser email about a product "with an Edge." That could either mean they're bringing in the ThinkPad Edge to the Philippines or they're venturing into the world of shaving and going head-to-head with Gillette, Schick, et al. We're inclined to think it's the less stupid-sounding scenario.
Next to netbooks, thin and light notebooks are the most portable when it comes to mobile computing. The ThinkPad Edge is positioned in between the business-centric ThinkPads and the consumer-oriented IdeaPads.
Unlike a netbook, it doesn't use an Intel Atom processor, and unlike a notebook, it doesn't have desktop-like features such as a DVD drive. Its 13.3-inch screen also sits in the middle of things – too small for games but just right for everything else.

Versions running on an AMD Athlon Neo and an Intel ULV are currently available in the US. Other configurations include built-in WiMAX and/or 3G. The base price starts at $549 (about P27,500). Hopefully, all options will be made available in the Philippines.
Stay tuned for our full review.
