Sony Philippines has a new brand ambassador, and he is no less than the people's champ, Manny Pacquiao.
Seen here during the official contract signing, Manny Pacquaio was awarded a 52-inch Sony BRAVIA LX9 3D TV – in partial return for his services, no doubt. Yup, the champ is now the first Sony 3D TV owner in the Philippines.
The partnership, which will last for a year, officially makes the fighting congressman from Sarangani the face (fist?) of Sony's 3D product line. An avid karaoke singer, Pacquaio said his first Sony gadget was the iconic Walkman portable cassette player back in 1994, which he used to sing along to. He also said he owned a Betamax player, a gadget which he jokingly said is used to play VHS tapes.

That's his 3D TV right there. It's scheduled for an official public launch this October
Sony Philippines president and CEO Takao Kuroda is optimistic with the partnership, and said that it is an honor for Sony to stand side by side for the "world's greatest products" with the world's greatest boxer.
As lofty as those words may sound, we have to admit that this tips the scales in Sony's favor, at least from a marketing standpoint. Samsung may have the most units in stores and LG may have the prettiest one, but Sony has friggin' Manny Pacquiao endorsing theirs.
If he plays his cards right, he can easily convince the fat cats in Congress to get one for each of their houses (and spouses).
