NCRPO to implement eblotter system

Finally, the metro's rather outdated police-blotter system gets a a little bit of an upgrade, as the National Capital Region police office (NCRPO)  will be implementing a "more efficient" eblotter system.

Under the new system, police will only have to fill out all the basic information in an existing form. The form will then be uploaded to the database of the NCRPO. It's a more accurate way of monitoring crime, we agree.

According to NCRPO Director Roberto Rosales, some crimes in certain communities were not reported to higher authorities with the current system, especially if the complainant has decided to drop charges against a group or person. With the eblotter, all crimes reported, whether or not a case is dropped, will be included in the database. This will give NCRPO a better, more accurate picture of the nature of crimes committed as well as more up-to-date figures that will help them monitor crimes more effectively. Also, the information in the eblotter system cannot be tampered with at the station and district levels as opposed to the conventional way of reporting crime.
