No Apple iPhone 5 this June?

Now this is a surprise. If you're expecting Steve Jobs' next handset this June then you might be a bit disappointed as the buzz around the web says the iPhone 5 won't be coming at this year's WWDC as was the case in recent years.

Web pundits like Jim Dalrymple of The Loop and All Thing D's John Paczkowsk are saying that the iPhone 5 won't be announced at Apple's June event. Also, no other hardware-related revelations will be made. Instead, WWDC 2011 will be all about software and the future of the iOS and Mac OS X, something that Apple's invite clearly says.

When should we expect the next iPhone to be announced if it's not in June, then? We're looking at Apple's September event, the same event where Steve Jobs refreshed the iPod line. Also there are still speculations that a 3rd-gen iPad might appear in the said show though that may be a bit of a long shot given that the iPad 2 just rolled out.

Still, that would be one all-hardware event we will all be excited about.
