Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus with Gingerbread now official

The popular Galaxy Ace has been around for about a year and, now, the mid-range handset's successor has finally been unveiled. Good ol' Sammy just took the wraps off the new Galaxy Ace Plus which sports, well, upgraded hardware and Android Gingerbread in the mix.

As we've said, the Galaxy Ace Plus comes with better hardware like a faster 1GHz CPU and more RAM at 512MB (the Galaxy Ace has an 800MHz chip and 278MB of RAM). In terms of display, the handset boasts a 3.65-inch touchscreen which is a tad bigger than its predecessor's 3.5-inch screen although the resolution remains the same at 320 x 480. Gingerbread is also part of the mix although we're not sure if the Galaxy Ace Plus will be eligible for an Ice Cream Sandwich update (we're betting not). As you may have noticed, the Galaxy Ace Plus looks quite similar to the iPhone 3G and 3GS so we won't be surprised if another round of Apple vs. Samsung court battles will happen again soon. As for availability, the device will be released globally starting this month. We're not sure exactly when it will pay us a visit although we're expecting it to arrive locally within the next couple of months with an asking price that's similar to the Galaxy Ace's original SRP of P16,500.
