Hear ye, hear ye, geeks! Team Philippines recently bagged first place in the dream stage for cosplayers in this side of the world, the Asia Cosplay Meet (ACM)! Just goes to show that we Filipinos can really imitate our fave anime characters, and are damn good in doing so.

The ACM aims to be the event where the best of the best cosplayers in the Asian region compete and strut their cosplaying prowess. Four countries, namely South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and of course, the Philippines, participated in the event, sending 3 of their very best competitors for the ultimate honor of being the first ACM winner. Local legs were held in each of the 4 countries to find out who would represent their nations in the final round of the competition in Singapore.

Riyo Lendl Enriquez (as Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear Overture), Lyron Decy Cueto Aquino (as Edge Maverick of Star Ocean), and Jia Gold Bustamante (as KOS-MOS from Xenosaga) carried our flag for us. And when the dust settled in Singapore, the pretty 13-year-old Bustamante (the "Bustamantes" [the other one being Django] are making a killing this month, aren't they?), together with a Singaporean cosplayer, emerged victorious, earning for themselves a trip to the ultimate Otaku and cosplay destination, Japan. Have we found the heir to Alodia's crown if ever?

We gotta hand it to these cosplayers. Not only did they participate and won, but they also showed us that something good actually comes out of being a couch potato watching anime shows and playing video games. Hear that, 'rents?
