One brand that consistently innovates to remain on top is JBL. Let's take a look at the JBL MX100, however, and see if the company still hasn't lost its magic touch.
Complete audio solution
The MX100 is a complete high-performance audio system that includes a CD player, an FM tuner, a dock for your iPod/iPhone, auxiliary inputs for other audio products, and built-in loudspeakers. By these specs alone, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out that the gadget is a complete audio solution for both the home and the office.
The MX100 delivers crisp, crystal-clear sound from practically any source. We hooked up the MX100 to an iPod nano and played songs from varying genres – from the riffs of Joe Satriani to the bass-heavy R&B tracks of Patti Austin and Chaka Kahn. And the MX100 showed that it's no pushover by delivering good vocals backed by, of course, a rich, full instrument and bass sounds even at high volume and bass levels.
There are outputs for sharing your photos and videos on a TV. We popped in a copy of The Matrix, and the MX100 proved that it's an instant surround-system solution that offers clear dialogues and audible sound effects. There's even a direct subwoofer output for adding enhanced bass performance. A sharp three-line display ensures that navigating through your tracks is as simple as searching for something via Google.
Is it worth your money?
The P34,990 JBL MX100 is one heck of an audio system, but it's also one of the most expensive iPod docks we've ever tested. So is it worth it? Yes. We can honestly say that it's worth every centavo. If you have a few thousand pesos to spare, the MX100 might be something worth considering.
If you put value in design and appearance when buying gadgets, specifically a new audio system, the MX100 is a winner, with its sleek black curves sure to breath life to just about any drab surroundings. If you want it "silky smooth," to quote the great Zohan, then the MX100 is for you.
