Logitech H530
Let's cut right to the chase: the Logitech H530 fits snugly onto your head, and adjusts and extends its headband capacity quite easily after a soft tug. All its controls are built-in and camouflaged onto the right earpiece, which means Juan Tamadshave the perfect excuse not to sit up and reach for the computer’s volume controls. But, we have to admit, we were a bit disappointed when its volume controls didn’t turn out to be a wheel—our techie instinct told us to spin, but alas, it did not.
Like most Logitech gadgets, the H530 was a breeze to install, and it won’t even take over a few minutes before making you first video or voice call. But being a USB headphone makes one point certainly clear: it’s only for computers. An earphone jack adaptor would’ve been really nice.
Comfort-wise, the H530 did a superb job. The ear pads were comfy, but didn’t feel stuffy after hours of use; the lengthy cord gave more than ample opportunity to move around without feeling leashed to your computer; and all its features are readily accessible with the earphone buttons—but it will need a little getting used.
Though the overall hardware of the H530 felt semi-sold, and a bit too plastic, it was able to deliver the features it promised. Its noise cancellation feature did quite well in drowning out the surrounding noise and the reception quality was above average but of course, the H530 can’t do anything about the hiccups if you’re on dial-up.
It also does well in providing you with options depending on your needs: The voice chat mode aims to kill background noise; and the music and gaming mode brings up the bass in different levels.
All-in-all, the Logitech Headset H530 gave above average sound quality. If you’re not looking to spend much, but demand more than the basic from your headphones, then this baby’s worth a look.
