Mobile Wonders Egg

Portable twist and pop-open speakers - they're everywhere from high-end gadget shops, to tech clone stores, to corporate event loot bags. What makes the egg Dual Capsule Speakers special?

There's no groundbreaking difference. Like the others, it's as simple as plug in, turn on, turn up. The twin speakers can work while stuck together in their magnetic bases or separately, connected by a foot -long cable (You have to use both speakers by the way for the set to function.)

All the basics are built-in - mini USB charging port, LED power indicator, volume control, etc. It works with just about anything with a 3.5mm audio jack but it's most logical to pair it with your portable music player (ok, iPod).

But unlike most of its brothers, this set doesn't scream plastic, thanks to its rubbery finish that will not suck the sophistication out of your devices. It's lightweight, too, compared to the features of expensive docks.

Sound quality is crisp, clear and credible enough for some indoor music appreciation, plus it obeys your devices' EQ settings. The sound crackles when you put everything on max, but it sure is loud for something that doesn't take up too much space. You can allow it to sit on your work desk or even stick it on any magnetic surface (ex. your co-worker's CPU).

The rubbery base has hidden magnets to keep the speakers together when not in use.

Also notable is its battery life, capable of handling a day of continuous shuffling and looping. All these make it a good sidekick for your iPod in times when you have a new playlist to brag about or when your ears are already begging your earphones for some time apart.
